Hooked...

Last week my Mum, saint that she is, very kindly taught me to crochet....over the phone. It's even harder than it sounds, believe me, I'm sure she can vouch for it given the slightly hungry hook wielding daughter that was on the other end of the line grumpily attesting that NO, it DID NOT look anything like the picture in the link she sent me!

Three phone calls, several clarifications of what exactly constituted "a triple" and a few late night text messages, and I seem to be on my way. Only another elebenty billion more squares to go and my blanket shall be complete!

  1. I've just popped in via Love Those Cupcakes. Very impressed with your crochet progress - as well as your lovely baking adventures. I too taught myself how to crochet this winter and spend hours and hours practicing getting those chains and doubles and trebles right. It is, it has to be said, very addictive.

  3. Thank you for such lovely encouraging comments. I am still only able to actually make squares, but am loving it! It's so easy to do on the bus (on the few mornings I get a seat), but a blanket seems a long way off!

jane - you should definitely learn, it's much easier than you expect, and so much fun!

  4. Oh well done you (and your mum, of course)! I crocheted a blanket (which I still have) when I was about 13 with my aunt's help. Can't for the life of me work out how to wield a crochet hook now.
